The Inner Journey

The conflict between the ego and the Self is constant. The ego has ruled for ages and is not ready to give up its kingdom so easily. The poor Self watches in helplessness. It wants to reign but feels extremely powerless and timid. It feels stifled and smothered but it cannot dare to confront the ego although it is nothing but a mere shadow.
The Self, who is eternal and the very cause due to which this body exists, watches the drama of the ego. The non-existent ego is ever ready to steal the show as it tries to grab the limelight and take credit for everything. The ego is always seeking affirmation, approval, appreciation and acknowledgment for every little activity. At the same time, it attacks in vengeance every time it fears the loss of face.
The Self who was in deep slumber for ages is now slowly getting awakened by the grace of Gurudev. It is now realizing intermittently that it is God’s power that is the doer within him and that it is a mere witness to the cosmic drama unfolding around it every second.
Although it is the ‘Shakti’ who is behind every action but the ego clouds this knowledge and the SELF is forced, often in helplessness, to watch the ego take over the charge. The ego comes into play in every aspect of existence and snatches away the act of witnessing. At times, the SELF witnesses the horrific drama of ego in the guise of anger and pride, played to the fullest, clouding the awareness and consciousness completely. The Self bears it in silence as it is overpowered by the demonic energies of the ego. It feels trapped, imprisoned, and lost. It witnesses its defeat at all fronts. The ego challenges it every now and then by raging the fire of desire, attachment, and expectation and wreaks havoc within. The Self cries in vain and often is depleted of whatever little energy it possesses.
Now the SELF has gradually awakened and realized that it is trapped within this body and that all the dance of energies occurring within has nothing to do with it. The Self can now clearly see that it is like the clear sky on which the feelings and emotions come and go. Just like it doesn’t affect the sky whether it is overcast with dark dense clouds or it is clear, the sky always remains the same. Similarly, the Self can now see that irrespective of whether there is pain or joy, anger or laughter, peace or turmoil that the body is going through, that IT always remains the same; unaffected and untouched, always a witness to the scene.
Gurudev Shri Ramlal Ji Siyag made me realize that I am not this body; I am a soul. The soul is eternal and ageless. It is due to Gurudev’s grace that the presence of the universal divine ‘Shakti’ within was realized during meditation when I experienced so many different kinds of Yogic Kriyas in the form of asana, bandh, mudra, pranayama, and many more, occurring automatically as per the need of the body. He made the Self realize that you as XYZ was not there in this body a few years ago and you will not be in this body after a few years from now so clinging to petty events, thoughts and emotions are unnecessary.
Gurudev said that when you see that there is a higher power within you, you realize that you are not the doer. When you truly realize that you are not the doer, the ‘karmic’ account will close and you will be free. While guiding from within, Gurudev said– “Leave everything on to me. Whatever happens, let it happen; whatever doesn’t happen, let it not happen.”
When the above will be applied in totality, the ego will dissolve and the face of the SELF will be revealed.

हमारे अन्दर झूठे अहंकार और आत्मा के बीच निरन्तर द्वंद्व रहता है। अहंकार ने सदियों से इस शरीर पर राज किया है और वह इस साम्राज्य को आसानी से छोड़ना नहीं चाहता। आत्मा असहाय होकर यह सब देखती है। वह अपना साम्राज्य लेना तो चाहती है पर बहुत कमजोर और लाचार महसूस करती है। वह अन्दर ही अन्दर घुटती है पर अहंकार का सामना करने की हिम्मत नहीं कर पाती।
आत्मा, जो कि अजर-अमर है और जिसके कारण इस शरीर का अस्तित्व है, अहंकार के इस नाटक को देखती रहती है। अहंकार जिसका असल में कोई अस्तित्व ही नहीं है, प्रत्येक कार्य का श्रेय लेने को आतुर है और छोटे-से-छोटे कार्य के लिए प्रसंशा, अनुमोदन और श्रेय चाहता है और इसे जैसे ही अपनी हार महसूस होती है तो यह बदले में हमला करने को भी आतुर रहता है।
आत्मा जो सदियों से सोई पड़ी है अब गुरुदेव की कृपा से धीरे-धीरे जाग रही है। यदा-कदा इसे अहसास होता है कि इस शरीर में भगवान ही कर्ता है और वह खुद केवल एक साक्षी है।
यद्यपि हमारे हर कार्य के पीछे शक्ति का हाथ होता है पर अहंकार इस ज्ञान पर पर्दा डाल देता है और आत्मा को मजबूरन एक बार फिर अहंकार के इस खेल को देखना पड़ता है। अहंकार जीवन के प्रत्येक घटना क्रम में अपनी उपस्थिति से हमारे अन्दर से साक्षी भाव को छीन लेता है। कभी-कभी तो आत्मा को अहंकार का विभत्स रूप क्रोध और घमण्ड के रूप में देखना पड़ता है और उस पल उसके साक्षी भाव पर अंधकार के बादल छा जाते हैं। आत्मा इसे सहते हुए अपने को जकड़ा हुआ, फंसा हुआ सा महसूस करती है। उसे ऐसा लगता है कि वह हर पल अहंकार से हार रही है। अहंकार चुप नहीं बैठता और हर पल आत्मा को कामना, मोह और उम्मीदों के घेरे में फंसा कर चुनौती देता रहता है।
पर अब जब आत्मा धीरे-धीरे जाग रही है तो उसे यह ज्ञान हो रहा है कि वह इस शरीर में है पर शरीर नहीं है और इस शरीर में होने वाली विभिन्न प्रकार की हलचलों से उसका कुछ लेना-देना नहीं है। आत्मा को यह ज्ञात हो चुका है कि वह नीले आकाश की तरह है जिसके ऊपर भावनाओं और विचारों के बादल आते-जाते रहते हैं। जिस प्रकार आकाश में चाहे घने काले बादल हों या कुछ ना हो आकाश, आकाश ही रहता है उसी प्रकार आत्मा अब देख सकती है कि चाहे यह शरीर दुख या सुख, खुशी या गम, शांति या तूफान से गुजरे, वह इन सब से प्रभावित नहीं होती। वह केवल इन सब की साक्षी है।
गुरुदेव श्री रामलाल जी सियाग ने सिद्धयोग साधना द्वारा यह महसूस करवाया कि मैं यह शरीर नहीं हूँ; मैं आत्मा हूँ। आत्मा अजर-अमर है, अनादि-अनन्त है। केवल गुरुदेव की कृपा से ही जब मैंने ध्यान में विभिन्न प्रकार की यौगिक क्रियाओं जैसे आसन, बंध, मुद्रा, प्राणायाम इत्यादि को अपने आप अपने शरीर में होते हुए देखा तो अपने अन्दर उस सार्वभौम शक्ति की उपस्थिति को साक्षात महसूस किया। गुरुदेव ने ध्यान में यह भी अहसास दिलाया कि आज जो आप एक्सवाईजेड हो वह कुछ वर्षों पहले नहीं थे और कुछ वर्षों बाद भी नहीं रहोगे।
गुरुदेव कहते हैं कि जब आप देखोगे कि आपके अन्दर शक्ति कार्य कर रही है तो आपको यह ज्ञात हो जाएगा कि आप कर्ता नहीं हो। जब आप सच में इसको महसूस कर लोगे कि आप कर्ता नहीं हो तो आपका कार्मिक खाता बंद हो जाएगा और आप मुक्त हो जाओगे। गुरुदेव मार्ग दर्शन करते हुए कहते हैं — ‘‘सब कुछ मुझ पर छोड़ दो। जो होता है वो होने दो; जो नहीं होता वो न होने दो’’
जब गुरुदेव के ऊपरोक्त कथन को यथार्थ में जीवन में उतारा जाएगा तब अहंकार विलीन हो जाएगा और आत्म-साक्षात्कार हो जाएगा।
